- "There are whispers among my flock that a ship of the Royal Navy docked in Harbour Island recently."
The Royal Navy is the principal naval warfare force of the Kingdom of Great Britain.
At some point before 1705, James McGraw joined the Royal Navy and became a lieutenant. He met Lord Thomas Hamilton, who had a plan to use the Navy to eradicate pirates in the Bahamas. McGraw eventually deserted from the Navy and became the infamous pirate James Flint.
In 1715, a Royal Navy warship Scarborough encountered Flint' ship, the Walrus, several times, without managing to capture it. The captain of the Scarborough, Hume, personally encountered Flint in the office of Richard Guthrie on Harbour Island, and attempted to arrest him, but the pirate managed to escape to Nassau.
